White Tea
2020 Fuding Shoumei White Tea
Fuding, Fujian, China · 5g

Red Tea

Oolong
2025 Tie Guan Yin
Anxi, Fujian · ~8g

View teaWhy these teas
This is what we hand to people who ask where to start. Six of our favourite lots from the catalog, one careful session each. Three are aged Fuding whites in different ages and formats: a six-year cake, an eight-year cake, and a twelve-year drip bag, all from the same farmer on the Fuding coast. The other three are a Xinhui tangerine stuffed with ripe pu'er, a traditional pinewood Lapsang from inside the Wuyi protected area, and a light Anxi Tieguanyin from the family that also makes the tangerine. Whichever one keeps pulling you back is the corner of the catalog worth spending more time in.

The journey
Five of the six teas come from Fujian. The three aged Fuding whites are all from one woman on the coast. She presses the cakes herself and rests them in the same small warehouse for years before they leave the farm. Inland from there sits Wuyi, where a single farmer hand-picks the leaves and hand-smokes them over pinewood inside the protected area. Further south, an Anxi family grows and processes the Tieguanyin on their farm.
The sixth tea is from a different province. The same Anxi family settled in Xinhui, Guangdong a generation back and learned to wrap tangerines around shou pu'er the way the region is known for. The Tieguanyin and the tangerine pu'er come from the same household, on either side of the Fujian-Guangdong border.

2024 Tangerine Ripe (Shou) Pu'er
Six teas, one careful session each. The shortest path through what we sell.
Brewing
A printed card comes with the box. Temperature, leaf-to-water ratio, and number of steeps for each of the six teas, with a short note on what to listen for in the cup. Keep the card with the leaves after you've opened the box. The same numbers work when you buy a full pouch.
Sourced Direct
Direct from the farm
Bought in person from the farmer who made it, on a yearly sourcing trip to China.
Tasted before bought
We taste every lot ourselves before we buy, often against alternates from the same village.
Small lots, single origin
Every tea is named by its village, farmer, and harvest year. Never a warehouse blend.

The headline single tea
2018 Fujian Silver Needle White Tea
The aged Silver Needle that smells like chocolate. From the same Fuding farmer who supplies three of the six teas in this box, but in its own full pouch rather than a 5g sample. The single lot most people remember after a tasting.
